New PartnerCentral Account APIs

Its been a year since much happened in the PartnerCentral API space That sure feels like a long time …
Its re:Invent season so we must have heaps of new things. AWS has just yesterday released a heap of new APIs for PartnerCentral Account interaction - the PartnerCentral Account API
Wowza. Now we can actually do a lot more things with PartnerCentral …
Opening the box
Lets look at what we got:
Candidate 5 version of the AWS Partner Central API released. Introduced a new Account API to AWS Partner
Central, enabling partners to manage their account information, registration, profiles, domain management,
and partner connections.
So what’s that actually mean ? We got all these methods, and we re-organized the alphabetical list into logical groups:
These are pretty utilitiarian:
- GetPartner
- ListPartners
- CreatePartner
The ability to kickstart (or re-kickstart) the verification process:
- StartVerification
- GetVerification
A whole bunch of methods around Partner connections:
- GetConnectionPreferences
- UpdateConnectionPreferences
- GetConnection
- ListConnections
- CreateConnectionInvitation
- GetConnectionInvitation
- ListConnectionInvitations
- AcceptConnectionInvitation
- RejectConnectionInvitation

The ability to add other domains (for training & certification attribution):

And we got the ubiquitous “tag it” stuff:

Inital call outs:
- The big rocks here re about partner connections (which enable things like ACE opportunity sharing, and Marketplace multi-product solutions) and managing profile content programmatically
- If the Selling API is similarly scoped, thats going to be a significant step up for managing opportunities across both ACE and Marketplace surfaces
- If the associated Benefits API does what it claims, that will be a big lift for partners who were previously using APFP to manage their claims for credits and cash.
The wrap up
PartnerCentral Account API is a major step forward for automation of partner business with AWS, and points to a different future where the partners that scale are driven less by human effort and administration and more by integration. We’ll drill down into specific aspects of the Account API over the next few weeks as we work with partners to implement and increment their GTM alignment with AWS.
